It's not often I find myself thinking, "Wow, I really like that chip shop!" but I'll make an exception for Marini's.
This place weaved its way into Baillieston Main Street and - despite there being absolutely no gap in the market down this neck of the woods - made itself at home and became one of the most popular take-aways in the area.
Throughout January they're offering £2.50 suppers. New Year's Resolutions indeed. Tell me you can resist that!
Inside, Marini's has a very long bar/counter, with all sorts of greasy, deep-fried treats on display. They also do proper stone-baked pizzas, which are better than Domino's in my opinion, and good old Glaswegian chippy classics like pizza crunch and onion rings.
It's ridiculously greasy, and should be handled with care. However, it's always my first choice in chippy when I'm back home, and I recommend it whole-heartedly. -

Passing the main street the other day,and walked by Marinis Chip shop, although I live near the shop I rarely use it, as I much prefer " New Neptune's " for a couple of reasons, ( 1 ) its closer to my home ( 2 ) they fry everything in Lard, or as we Glaswegians call it " dripping " notwithstanding Marinis interior is spotless and the fare on offer is above average for chip shops in the East End. Marinis first opened for business in Baillieston about 40 years ago by Giuseppe Marini who eventually retired and the shops are now run and owned by his son Sep, they have won various awards for there fish and chips and hold or did hold the world record for frying the most fish suppers in one day ( 12,406 ) I would use this shop any time I was passing as the variety is good the staff friendly price wise I can not fault £ 2.50 for a fish supper, they source their fish direct from Aberdeen, apparently they have their own fish buyer up north, one thing I did not know was that the Marinis have donated over £50.000.00 to various charity's,now that's a brilliant gesture. On conclusion its a good honest chippy, clean with nice staff

Nice chippies here, good fat squidgy chip shop chips. Fritters with grease please! Yes its greasy but the fritters here are just right, not too much potato width ways, but they seem to be made of huge big round because they are always massive. Nice big thin fritters with a good bit of batter to then cover in vinegar then salt (in that order) then brown sauce.
They will give you more sauce if you ask here, not like some of the more stingy places that like to do the 1 second squirt on the top fritter only. What use is that to anyone??
